The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) is established under the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) No. 8 of 1999, as the principal instrument of government in the implementation of all policies relating to the environment.
Section 3 of EMCA, 1999 states that “Every person in Kenya is entitled to a clean and healthy environment and has the duty to safeguard and enhance the environment.” The Act is intended to ensure that our activities do not compromise the capacity of the resource base to meet the needs of the present generation as well as those of future generations (WCED, 1987).
We are manadated by Nema as EIA/EA Lead Experts and we have been assisting the transport industry through environmental audits, environmental inpact assessment, social impact assessments through comuninity participation and involvement.
IAAK is a forum for advancing innovation, development, and communication of best practice in impact assessment. Their national membership promotes development of local and global capacity for the application of environmental, social, health and other forms of assessment in which sound science and full public participation provide a foundation for equitable and sustainable development.
As members we gain through best practice sharing in the member’s forum and through information exchange with member experts. The association helps us penetrate to the very core of the society its network.
With ever-more stringent road legislation, European safety regulations, and stricter controls on training, it is essential the views of the driver training industry are heard at the Government level. As individuals, those in the driver training industry may risk being ignored, but as part of a large and powerful association like the DIA we are assured that our views will count. The DIA is consulted by the DfT, DSA, DVTA, DVLA and other Government agencies.
It has representation in Parliament, in Europe through the EC and OECD, and internationally through the International Association for Driver Education (IVV) and United Nations.
As Members we have access to a wealth of expert knowledge and advice on all matters relating to driver education from highly qualified ADIs on DIA staff and other experienced staff members. Through this membership all our operations related to driver training are authenticated and updated to the latest methods and applications as necessary. We are proud to be the only members in Kenya.
